As the new season begins, the melodies of the strings continue without interruption, and academic leadership opens a new journey. In order to effectively strengthen the construction of academic style and help the freshmen of Class 25 adapt to the pace of university study, deeply experience the charm of the disciplines, and clarify their growth direction in university, Hongde College organized three targeted 'Professors' First Lesson' themed lectures on the afternoon of September 12, 2025, in combination with the different training orientations of the gifted class, the base class, and the senior class. The three professors, based on their rich research experiences and profound life insights, answered questions and guided the freshmen, leading everyone to embark on a new chapter of unlimited possibilities in university.

Professor Chen Chang

"The field of biomass resources has a broad space and great potential."
Professor Chen Chang from the Chemical Engineering College, a renowned teacher in Beijing, approached from the perspective of modern Chinese history. He profoundly revealed the foundational role of advanced technology and thought in national rejuvenation and earnestly urged young people to 'shoulder responsibility and courageously undertake missions'—not only to take root in the land of China to build the homeland but also to possess a global vision as they step onto the world stage. Then, based on the current realities of resource and environmental challenges in our country, Professor Chen systematically explained the strategic significance of developing biomass energy, anchoring the new generation to the coordinates of scientific research exploration in this era.
Using his own and his students' perseverance in research as examples, he advocated for a spirit of 'striving for innovation and persevering' and emphasized the academic attitude of 'working diligently and accumulating bit by bit': only by respecting science, learning diligently, and connecting with reality can one forge an indomitable character amidst difficulties and challenges.
In the end, Professor Chen concluded with A vast world awaits with great potential, which reflects not only his confidence in the prospects of the biomass resource field, but also his earnest expectations for the younger generation to realize their value amidst the tides of the times.

Professor Lu Jun

"Use X-ray to analyze the material structure 'x'"
Listening to a segment of the history of science, one can feel the exploration and discovery journey of humanity's microscopic material structure. Professor Lu Jn, a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, traces the timeline from the initial scientific discoveries to contemporary cutting-edge explorations. He not only clarifies the internal logic of material structure research but also profoundly inspires students: engaging in scientific research requires maintaining a sense of curiosity, unwavering determination, and a commitment to the pursuit of truth.
When explaining the essence of 'university education,' Professor Lu expressed deep expectations.First, to practice the principles of 'learning to learn, learning to do, and learning to be', one must actively cultivate self-learning abilities, refine comprehensive qualities in the overall arrangement of study and life, and continuously hone one's wisdom and character in the practice of dealing with others. Second, one must uphold the spirit of 'confidence, independence, and self-improvement,' integrating with a positive attitude into university life and contributing to the construction of a strong socialist nation.
Finally, drawing from his own experiences, Professor Lu encouraged students to maintain a rigorous attitude towards science, uphold their passion for chemical experiments, and face difficulties fearlessly on the path of scientific research, bravely trying new things and demonstrating their unwavering pursuit of science through concrete actions.

Professor Su Haijia

"Chemical Engineering and Green Bio-Manufacturing"
Professor Su Haijia, a teaching master of the National Thousand Talents Program and vice president, elaborated on the key position of 'chemical engineering as a pillar industry of the national economy.' He discussed the supporting role of chemical engineering in critical fields such as daily goods production, energy, and pharmaceuticals. At the same time, he deeply analyzed the integrated development of chemical engineering and green biological manufacturing, explaining how engineering technologies in chemical engineering lay the foundation for the scale production of biological manufacturing, while biocatalytic methods in bioengineering inject green momentum into chemical engineering.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Su Haijia emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary subjects such as biochemistry and green manufacturing, drawing on the knowledge systems of chemical engineering and bioengineering, providing clear guidance for students in planning their professional studies and research exploration.
