Hongde College was established in September 2021 at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, based on over a decade of exploration and practice in talent development models such as experimental classes, interdisciplinary talent programs, top-notch talent programs, and major-based reforms. It aims to further promote the comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education and to form a higher-level talent cultivation system. The establishment of the college, after in-depth research and integration of high-quality resources inside and outside the university, marks the beginning of a new chapter in cultivating outstanding innovative talents. In the same year, the 'Hongde Chemistry Top Student Training Base' was selected for the Ministry of Education's Top-Talent Plan 2.0.

The academy's motto is 'Broad Talent and Far-reaching Ambition, Profound Virtue and Earnest Practice.' It is dedicated to cultivating top-tier innovative talents who are virtuous and erudite, integrate general and specialized knowledge, bridge Chinese and Western perspectives, can lead developments in fields such as chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, biology, and law, and possess high humanistic literacy and a strong sense of national responsibility, capable of shouldering the task of national rejuvenation.

 ‘Hongde and Extensive Learning’ aims to cultivate students into talents with lofty aspirations, noble morals, broad knowledge, and profound academic capability; ‘Integration of General and Specialized Education’ requires, on the basis of highlighting the unique qualities of liberal arts education, the establishment of an educational community with related colleges to achieve differentiated and distinctive talent development based on interdisciplinary foundations; ‘Integration of Chinese and Western Knowledge’ refers to providing internationalized courses, conducting international academic seminars, and sending students to high-level overseas universities for exchanges, study, or joint training, so that students have a broad international perspective and strong international competitiveness.

In recent years, Hongde College has actively explored and practiced around the school's disciplinary layout of 'strengthening engineering, deepening science, promoting humanities, and emphasizing interdisciplinary studies.' This includes improving management mechanisms and systems, building multi-level educational teams, optimizing the talent cultivation system for top-tier students, and innovating student management models under the college system, achieving satisfactory results.
