In the blink of an eye, several years have passed. Hongde College has accompanied students through a full 100 sessions of the salon, covering diverse fields such as chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, life sciences and law. These 100 sessions have effectively promoted interdisciplinary integration, strengthened students' innovative thinking, and provided a platform for the exchange of diverse ideas. We have always believed that the exchange of ideas can not only cultivate the temperament of young people with great aspirations, noble morality, extensive knowledge and profound academic ability, but also ignite the belief of integrating personal ideals into national development, allowing lofty aspirations to take root and germinate through practical actions.

The series of Mentor Mini Salon events for the Chemical Engineering track closely focuses on the current status and future prospects of the chemical industry, while analyzing the opportunities and challenges faced by China’s chemical sector against the backdrop of the dual carbon goals.
On the path of exploring green chemical engineering, new energy sources such as biomass resources and hydrogen energy light the way forward. In the micro realm, the continuous optimization of catalysts keeps breaking through the limits of production efficiency and product purity.
Rooted in nature, chemical engineering transforms nature and gives back to nature. While deepening students’ disciplinary understanding and professional competence, these events also cultivate their strong sense of social responsibility, helping to foster successors committed to developing clean and green chemical engineering.
Brilliance in Materials, Insights from the Discipline
The content of the materials field boasts both breadth and depth: it covers not only well-established research directions such as organic materials and metal materials, but also cutting-edge fields including cationic biomedical materials, opening the door to the world of materials for hundreds of students.
Technological innovation supports the dual carbon goals, and materials science lays a solid foundation for environmental protection. From fundamental principles to practical applications, from electrochemistry to structural chemistry, the 20 sessions of the Chemistry Mentor Mini Salon have concluded successfully.
Mentors demystified abstract concepts with accessible explanations, bringing chemistry to life through conversations. Students were no longer passive listeners; instead, they engaged in in-depth discussions with mentors with their own questions: they explored the details of reaction mechanisms, probed core principles, and broke through cognitive barriers amid the collision of ideas.
These 20 sessions were not only a step forward in disciplinary knowledge, but also 20 journeys where teachers and students jointly explored the mysteries of chemistry. Moving forward, these chemistry mini-dialogues will keep gaining momentum, and in their small yet refined format, they will escort students to forge ahead steadily on the path of exploring basic sciences.

Since 2021, more than 20 sessions of the Mentor Mini Salon in the field of life sciences have been held, consistently focusing on cutting-edge disciplinary advances and practical applications, and building a complete knowledge system spanning from basic research to industrial implementation.
The events center on three core tracks:The theme of green biomanufacturing and environmental governance closely aligns with the dual carbon strategy, deeply integrating disciplinary research with ecological responsibilities；The sharing of cutting-edge technologies in life sciences showcases frontier breakthroughs, opening up an interdisciplinary perspective for students；Topics related to health and public health respond to social concerns, conveying the value orientation of scientific research serving people's livelihoods.
Moving forward, the events will further strengthen the integration of industry, academia, research and application, expand emerging fields such as synthetic biology, add themes on career development paths and interdisciplinary project practice, build a dual platform for knowledge sharing and growth connection, and cultivate professional talents with both strong research capabilities and a profound sense of social responsibility.

The Mentor Mini Salon for the field of law, grounded in the philosophy of professional specialization plus value guidance, paves a growth ladder for law students, leading them from the acquisition of professional knowledge to the fostering of a firm belief in the rule of law.
The events not only closely address the new legal propositions emerging in the digital era, but also provide students with full-cycle growth empowerment through themes covering learning methods, research thinking and career planning. Furthermore, via dialectical discussions on the relationship between the ideal of rule of law and social reality, these salons guide students to rationally view the complexity of legal practice, nurturing legal professionals who possess both idealism and a pragmatic spirit.
