SPEAK UP! Show Your Style! To improve students' English speaking skills, Hongde College and the School of International Education jointly launched the 'SPEAK UP!' series of activities. On April 8th, the second session of the event was successfully held at Siyu Hall in Hongde College. This session focused on the theme of 'Superpowers,' with foreign teacher Mould, Benjamin Khalid leading students to break through thinking limitations and unleash their imaginative creativity.
Event Review
The activity progressed in an orderly manner around the theme of 'Superpowers.' The first part was the voting session, during which Teacher Mould announced three groups of superpower options one by one—'Flying vs. Invisibility,' 'Super Strength vs. Super Speed,' and 'Time Travel vs. Mind Reading.' Students chose their positions according to their own preferences and eagerly raised their hands to share their reasons in English, creating a lively yet orderly atmosphere of interaction on-site.

After the voting session, Teacher Mould led everyone to explore the definition of superpowers in depth, clarifying them as supernatural abilities that are difficult to achieve in reality, and encouraged students to share their understanding and thoughts on this concept in English based on their own interpretations. During the session for sharing personal ideal superpowers, many students volunteered to speak, fluently discussing in English the superpowers they longed for, ranging from time travel and teleportation to mastering all languages. Every idea was full of creativity, and everyone's anticipation and expectations for the future were fully expressed in their presentations.

The highlight of the event was the group co-creation superpower session. Students were divided into teams and transformed into scientists, engaging in lively discussions and collaboration around the functions, weaknesses, and suitable users of superpowers. Each group pooled their collective wisdom to design a unique superpower and sent representatives to present their results in English to the whole audience, confidently responding to everyone's questions. This wonderful co-creation not only exercised teamwork skills but also improved students' English speaking abilities and on-the-spot problem-solving skills, with continuous applause on site, pushing the atmosphere to its peak.
